Jezhan is a much larger country than Westerlin or Zaledo, and spreads from the Jezhani Riviera, a popular tourist beach spot, to far-northern islands where the Northern Lights can be seen.
The aristocracy is decaying in Jezhan. With a growing middle class jockeying for influence and success, former powerful estates are breaking up and being sold off.
The Royal family still retains power, however. Monarchs have one High Consort, whose children are heirs, and a selection of Consorts. Children of Consorts are known as Potentates and their roles are almost entirely ceremonial, though they may exert power and influence nevertheless.
The Church of Jezhan is the official religion of the country, and the monarch is the head of both the church and state.
An annual festival on the Winter Solstice in which personal mistakes of the past year are written down or symbolised in art, and are ceremonially burned. Participants look towards the coming year with an eye to doing better in the future.
